Fabric and Material

Kora Organza has a natural sheerness due to its lightweight weave, so it's often paired with a matching or contrasting underskirt/petticoat for the ideal opacity and drape.

Yes, Kora Organza is a pure silk variant — the "kora" (raw/unprocessed) silk yarn is woven into a sheer, lightweight fabric, distinct from denser silks like Katan or Kanjivaram, but still classified as pure silk.

Kora Organza is a sheer, lightweight silk fabric with a crisp texture and natural stiffness, woven on traditional Banarasi looms in Varanasi. Unlike regular Banarasi silk, Kora Organza has a translucent, glass-like finish while still carrying signature Banarasi motifs and zari work. Kora Organza is a sheer, lightweight and breathable silk fabric.

Craft & Technique

This saree is handwoven on traditional looms by Banarasi weavers, a process that can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on the intricacy of the motifs.

Kadwa is a traditional Banarasi technique where each motif is individually hand-woven into the fabric using a discontinuous weft, rather than carried continuously across the loom. This makes it one of the most intricate and time-intensive Banarasi weaves, often taking several weeks to a few months to complete a single saree.

Sona Roopa is a traditional Banarasi weaving technique that combines gold (sona) and silver (roopa) zari threads together within the same motif or border. This dual-tone zari work creates a subtle, shimmering contrast, adding depth and richness to the fabric that a single-tone zari cannot achieve.

Care & Maintenance

Dry cleaning is recommended to preserve the zari work and sheer texture and as it is Pure Silk; avoid folding along the same lines repeatedly, and store it wrapped in muslin cloth away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Kora Organza has a natural crispness and tends to hold its shape well, though it can develop light creases with wear — a light iron on low heat from the reverse side is enough to smooth it out.

Occasion and Styling

This saree suits weddings, receptions, festive gatherings, and daytime ceremonies — its sheer elegance makes it a popular choice for summer bridal wear and cocktail-style events.

Yes, its lightweight and breathable texture makes it one of the most comfortable silk options for summer and daytime weddings, compared to heavier silks.

Product Specifics

This saree comes in the standard 6.5 meters length, inclusive of the blouse piece — sufficient for most draping styles.

Authenticity & Sourcing

Yes, the saree comes with a Silkmark Certificate that is assurance of 100% pure silk.

Authentic pieces show slight weave irregularities from handwork, a slightly raised zari texture when touched. Power loom imitations tend to have a perfectly uniform, flat print-like finish.

The saree used tested zari which gives subtle shine and does not add weight to the fabric.

Comparison

Kora Organza has a stiffer, crisper drape with a glass-like sheen, while Banarasi Georgette is softer, more fluid, and slightly matte — Organza tends to hold structured pleats better.

Kora Organza and Katan silk are both pure Banarasi silk weaves, but they differ in texture and weight. Kora Organza is a sheer, lightweight silk with a crisp, glass-like finish. Katan silk is a denser, smooth, and opaque weave with a heavier fall. Both are pure silk.
